Really???

I would have thought that an almost 4 year old would know that smothering chocolate pudding all over his face is naughty. Oh wait.....he did.

Me: What do you think you're doing?
Kaden: Being a big, scary monster. Rrrrrrr!
Me: Stay there. I need to grab the camera.
Kaden: Why?
Me: So I can show daddy what you did.
Kaden: You're going to show him how naughty I am?
Me: Yes.
Kaden: (Then comes the above look of 'oh crap.') Can you put me in time out now before daddy does it tonight?

Obviously the distress of knowing the consequences when daddy gets home is a little worrisome to him. Ha ha.

Kaden's vocabulary has also been expanding recently. He seems to pick up everything he sees and hears. For example-today we were coming up the stairs and Kaden was carrying a whole bunch of his toys with him. He was grunting and panting and exaggerating things a little bit.

Me: Kaden, you seem to be working hard.
Kaden: Yes, I am.
Me: Are you alright?
Kaden: Phew! All this stuff sure is cumbersome.
Me: What did you say?
Kaden: All these toys are very cumbersome.
Me: Huh?
Kaden: (in a real snotty, annoyed voice) Mom, cumbersome means heavy! Don't you know that??
Me: Oh. Well, excuse me. Geesh.

Now, I'm just trying to figure out which show he got it from so I can spiff up my vocab a little:)

Just another day...

Today we did a little shopping and found some Halloween costumes for 90% off! We couldn't pass by without throwing some in the cart for our dress up bin. Then the kids came home and played in them all day long and pretended to have magical powers.
Presenting Batgirl! Or as she called herself, "Captain Brainstorm." No, I don't know where that came from.
Army guy getting ready for battle.
Mikey also raked up a bunch of leaves and let the kids jump in them.
Just another day at our house.

Sometimes the Weirdness Comes Out

The past few weeks I have found my kids doing some pretty weird things. Sometimes I'm quick enough to grab the camera...other times I'm not. On the occasion above Kaden decided to put on pajama pants that were two sizes too big for him. He ran around the house with them pulled up to his chest and searched for the enemy with his binoculars.
"Urkel"ing it. Way to go son.
Last week I came downstairs to discover Kaden in this position. When asked what he was doing he simply stated that he was too big to slide under the car to fix it so he had to find another way.
Since he couldn't fit under he would have to go over. He was down there for quite a while with his tools fixing his broken car.
"All fixed!"
Kayla has always had quite the obsession with clothes. The other day she came home from school and locked herself in the bathroom for 45 minutes. She wouldn't tell us what she was doing but finally yelled out that we needed to sit on the couch for her "presentation." She came waltzing out in this attire and had totally done herself up in what she called "super cute" fashion.

28

On Sunday I hit the big 2-8. What an exciting event. We went out for my birthday dinner Saturday night at Olive Garden and did a little bit of shopping. When I woke up Sunday morning Mikey made me a big pancake and egg breakfast while I opened cards and enjoyed watching everyone else scurry around to clean up. I like having those breaks once in a while.
Please keep in mind while viewing these pictures that I have a baby coming in 6 weeks. Sometimes I prefer not to put these on but think I need to for memory sake.
All day long Kayla and Kaden kept screaming "Happy Birthday!" Kids make birthdays so much fun.
After church Mikey made me his world famous nachos. Mmmmm! Can't be beat.
You know you want some:)
For my birthday dessert I picked a pumpkin caramel cheesecake. Delish!
Kayla came up with this grand card holder. She glued a few pieces of paper together then stuffed all my birthday cards in them. Brilliant I tell ya. Thanks for the great day guys!

Trick or Treat!

It's that time of year again...stuffing your face with candy until you think you're going to throw up. Or is that just me? Anyway, we had a couple of Halloween activities this week and a few pictures to show for it. Kaden has had his costume planned for months and Kayla was so excited to finally be able to wear her beautiful tu-tu from Grandma Carlson.
Presenting Dr. Kaden and Kayla the Fairy.

Showing off the candy they scored. I will have to remember this Halloween by all of the mostrous biffs taken by Kaden as he hurriedly ran up to people's doors. Apparently candy makes you run too fast for your own good.
Where to next?
We also had a ward Halloween party. These ladies are some good friends from church. If you can't tell I'm the Cleopatra in the middle. It was the only costume I could find that would fit over my belly. And yes...the dark hair threw me off too.

Mike and I agreed that our friends Teigan and Taylor won the best dressed award. How cute!

Darn It!

Okay...the pumpkin painting results are in and I must admit that I am VERY disappointed with you blogging voters. Come on people! Mike and Kaden won by a vote of 14 to 9. Seriously??? I will not let them take all the credit though-I did pick out and buy all the accessories for their pumpkin-so they really had no choice but to make a camo pumpkin. That at least makes me feel a little bit better. They also won the "best painted pumpkin" award at the Ward Halloween Party last night. Good job guys. Until next year...

Yes...even Luscious Lafonda needs to have her hair curled. And that is my 32 week belly sticking out.
Just to clarify the teams-Mike and Kaden, Elyse and Kayla.
Hard at work.

Family Competition...Please Vote!

Pumpkin #1-Private Pumpkin
Pumpkin #2-Lafonda the Luscious Cowgirl
For Family Home Evening tonight we finished up painting our pumpkins for Halloween. The kids each picked a partner (me or Mike) and helped us paint one of the pumpkins. Of course, after all was said and done we had to argue over whose pumpkin was better-so we thought we'd settle this little family competition with some blog voting. Please go to the sidebar and cast your vote of your favorite pumpkin. After Halloween we'll reveal the results and which team painted which pumpkin. Happy Voting!
